Armenian Bread

Armenian Bread

We recently found this recipe and made a loaf for the family to eat.

Everyone commented on how good it was and, because it needs honey instead of sugar, we thought it might be just a little better for us.

1 1/4 cups milk
3 Tbls. unsalted butter
2 Tbls. Honey
1 1/2 tsp. active dry yeast*
3 cups bread flour
3/4 tsp. salt

Scald the milk. Remove from the heat and add the butter and honey.  Stir until the butter melts.  Let cool at room temperature.  Add the milk mixture and all the remaining ingredients in the order suggested by your bread machine manual and process on the basic bread cycle according to the manufacturer's directions.

*If using instant active dry yeast, bake on the quick bake cycle, if your machine has one.

Makes a large 1 1/2 pound loaf.

The bread is good warm or cool and makes wonderful toast. After cooling, it freezes well.

Enjoy!
